Two La Marzocco machines serving espressos and cappuccinos; so operates Curto Café, located in the Center of Rio de Janeiro. Curto Café works with five types of coffee grains (citrus, almond, fruity, chocolate & chocolate + intense) sold in 300 gram packages, which come from different Espírito Santo farms, selected by Mário Zardo and toasted in five ways: clear, clear/medium, medium/dark, and dark.

In spite of the few preparation options on its menu, Curto Café, opened in 2013 by partners Gabriel Magalhães and Sergio Kienteca, is known throughout the Marvelous City, serving around 400 espressos and 300 cappuccinos per day. Besides the taste of its coffee, the fame and popularity of Curto are due to its price, namely, for lacking prices.

The coffee shop works by following a concept that is reflects the spirit of the 21st century: customers choose how much to pay for their coffee. With boards showing the monthly expenses of the site (such as rent, equipment, cleaning material …) it is informed how much Curto Café needs to be maintained on a monthly basis. by spending about $ 0.50 to prepare a cup of coffee, the store does not obligate consumers to pay, letting them decide how much the coffee they have just taken is worth.

The method has kept the store open for four years and brings in profits, attracting many loyal customers who help the place to keep. The success is such that, now, Curto Café promotes monthly events with the goal of introducing and accustoming the common public to the world of special coffee, attracting even more clientele.

With a delicious coffee, affordable to literally anyone in the world, Curto Café is a cafeteria with a modern mindset, also concerned about a discussion that goes far beyond the quality of the coffee we drink. It covers a whole new way of life that we need to discuss now! The Curto Café is in Rio, but could operate in any big city in the world!
