Bio Barista and the success of Coffee Trucks

Bio Barista Cafés Especiais, by Alex Pereira, emerged in the form of a Coffee Truck. The experience of having worked in other big cafes made Alex start to formulate the idea of Bio Barista.

Passionate about classic cars, Alex bought a black van, affectionately nicknamed as Black Bean, to start his own specialty coffee business, driving through the streets of Sao Paulo.

Alex met Felipe Croce, from Fazenda Ambiental Fortaleza, FAF, one of the best-known specialty coffee in the country. FAF has its own toaster in São Paulo, named Isto É Café.

The Bio Barista went to the streets serving grain from FAF and the success of the Black Bean was instantaneous, so as a second Kombi (Black Bean # 2) soon had to be adapted.

Bio Barista’s fame had been increasing until the time came for a fixed point for the coffee shop, which happened in early 2017. The site, located in the central region of the city of São Paulo, in Campos Elíseos, has a capacity for 25 seats. The two Kombis attend events throughout the city.

Operating with two La Marzocco (Linea Classic and the new Linea PB 3 Group) and a Mahlkonig K30 Twin, the place serves espressos and filtered drinks (Hario V60 and Aeropress). The coffee shop also works with small micro batches that keep changing every week.
