Specialty coffees, Bean to Bar chocolates and teas.
What do they have in common?
For starters, coffee and cocoa are fruits and Brazil is an agricultural power. After water, coffee and tea are the most consumed beverages on the planet. On the western side of the globe, coffee is preferred. In the East, the position is reversed. But the similarities go beyond these. Cocoa and coffee are typical crops of wet equatorial zones around the world. That means the coffee growing country invariably plants cocoa too: Cameroon, Colombia, Ivory Coast, Brazil, Ecuador, Ghana, Mexico, Nigeria, Togo, Uganda, Dominican Republic, Peru, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, India, Vietnam.
Brazil is the largest coffee producer in the world, the fifth largest in cocoa, but it is the only one that, besides producing, has a large and thriving domestic market, being a consumer both in terms of novelties and quantities.
Speaking of cocoa, chocolate is a worldwide passion, and our country has been standing out in the international scenario with a high quality fruit production, used by some of the most important brands in the world. It is a rebirth from the ashes, after our producers saw their farms decimated by the disease known as Witch’s Broom. Chocolate makers from every corner of the planet have in the Brazilian special cocoa a reference and inspiration to produce quality in bars, or in any other format that imagination allows.
Our purpose is to show what are the specialty coffees, the “grain to the bar” chocolate and the teas are, how they are grown, how they are produced, and how they are all consumed in major global centers.
Teas are a separate case. Our production, although small, is of an enormous quality. This is a product that Brazilians are still discovering and whose secrets they are learning to taste and appreciate. In the process, our mission is to unscramble myths and encourage the enthusiasm of those who are willing to travel through a new world of sensation.
We believe in the future of these businesses, in their potential and in the strength of those who, from sun to sun, produce and grow the country. With Grão Especial, we will discover stories, characters, drinking habits and much more together. After all, consumers are increasingly aware of the aspects of sustainability, their health and their families and, therefore, are focused on the consumption of better quality products. And, very importantly, they are willing to pay to incorporate this new standard into their daily lives.
