The event will take place in a hybrid format, from August 1 to 7 in 16 capitals

It is high time that Brazilian tea lovers had an event to call their own: from August 1 to 7, the 1st Tea Culture Week, which will take place in a hybrid way in 16 capitals. Organized by the group of Ethical Entrepreneurship in the Tea Market, the initiative responds to an appeal from the lovers of the drink, the second most consumed one in the world, behind only water.

The Week will bring together experts such as tea sommeliers, tea blenders and lovers of the field, with the aim of offering high-quality online educational content, as well as special face-to-face events and services in establishments linked to the tea world, such as tea houses, emporiums, markets and etc. To access the complete list of events, visit www.semanadocha.com.br.

Tea Culture

“Our main objective is to share knowledge and experiences about Camellia Sinensis, the plant that gives rise to tea, recognizing its importance in the history of Brazil”, explains Yuri Hayashi, CEO of Escola de Chá Embahu, organizer of the event, together with nine representatives of the Ethical Entrepreneurship group in the Tea Market, formed by Adriana Ferreira, Claudia Sant’Anna, Daniela Folquitto, Daniela Pirozzi, Elizeth van der Vorst, Eloína Telho, Ligia Gabbi and Luciana Maira.

“We want the lay public to participate in the Week, since it is not necessary to have any prior knowledge on the subject,” explains Yuri. Online events are free. In-person classes will be charged and pre-registration will be required.

About 100 companies in the sector are participating in the Week and many of them will take the opportunity to offer discounts on teas, blends and equipment for preparing the drink. The famous Japanese restaurant in São Paulo, Aizomê @aizomerestaurante, with two locations in the city, will have a special menu with options for preparing food with teas. The topics of the face-to-face lectures range from introduction to the world of teas, matcha preparation, Japanese tea ceremony, cooking with teas and blends, tea culture in China, teas from the Ribeira Valley, pairing of teas and wines, exclusive desserts of matchas and tasting of Camellia beer (beer with tea). Companies such as Tea Shop @teashopbrasil, present in several shopping malls in the country, will be offering 15% off in their physical and online stores for infusions, teas and rooibos from the purchase of 100 grams. Dates and times of the entire program must be confirmed on the website. www.semanadocha.com.br.
