From a coffee factory to a cafeteria, this is Coffee Lab’s history, national reference for those who are special coffee aficionados. Created by the roasting master Isabela Raposeiras, the Coffee Lab works exclusively with micro-lots of special coffee. The cafeteria abolished the barrier between corner and customer, exposing the whole kitchen. The roaster is at the back of the main hall, which makes it a perfect place for those who want a true experience with coffee preparation methods.

Coffee Lab is an interesting place for those who wish to learn in-depth the special coffees’ universe. Since the beginning, Isabela was concerned with educating the public by means of “rituals” created by the cafeteria, so that the customer can experience the real coffee taste, learning about the nuances of the different preparation methods.

Barista Leandro Lee, 30 years, received us. With a degree in Law, he is son of Korean immigrants, and started his coffee career two years ago, when his wife enrolled him in a course, as a hobby, at Coffee Lab. The result is that the Law world lost a professional and the special coffee universe gained a great barista.  And, as he came to know the different stages to prepare a good coffee, his love for the subject started to grow, reaching the current phase, which is to diffuse the knowledge by teaching.

Attention: as you arrive, ask for the menu, but don’t expect them to take your order at the table. You must order at the corner, directly with the barista.
