This year, Easter will undoubtedly be different. The way things are going, we will probably not have family lunches or large exchanges of chocolate eggs due to the confinement that the whole world experiencing now, in hopes that we are able to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.

For chocolate companies, Easter is more important than Christmas in terms of sales. That for reason, they made preparations well in advance, buying raw material, stocking cocoa beans, packaging, hiring staff, etc.

At this moment, they are running serious risks of having their products stuck. Big companies can survive, so our humble suggestion is that you prioritize your purchases of eggs and chocolates from small bean-to-bar chocolate producers. That way, they may have smaller losses and continue on the difficult task of being entrepreneurs, especially in Brazil.

For the bigger kids

Mestiço Chocolates (@mesticochocolates) is one of these companies. They own a farm, Bonança, located in Itacaré, southern Bahia, and produce chocolates at their factory in the Itaim district, in São Paulo. The owner, Rogério Kamei, and his wife, Claúdia Gamba, created some great sophisticated recipes for this Easter – a great choice for adults.

Their main highlight is the egg produced with 71% cocoa, of 71% Trinitarian varietal origin, “combining Kinkan Jelly and Pink Pepper. Another recipe is a 47% milk chocolate, with coconut milk, crunchy caramelized tapioca popcorn, and a touch of fleur de sel. The third option is a 35% cocoa white chocolate with pistachio and rose honey. Finally, there is the pack with three eggs stuffed with different cashew, Brazil and Baru nuts.
