At the Frieze Los Angeles, illycaffè will present, for the first time in the United States, the new illy Art Collection and the cans signed by world renowned artist Mona Hatoum, whose poetry and politics are revealed in installations, sculptures, videos, photos and projects using paper. In this illy art collection, particularly, patterns and colors decorated on cups and cans remind the typical keffiyeh standard, the traditional Arabian headdress. Using decoration with fishing nets and olive tree leaves, the artist narrates a deep story of work, sacrifice and relations in the cups and cans.

“Beauty and contemporary art are two elements that sum up what is ‘made in Italy’; from the logo drawn by James Rosenquist to the sophisticated look of our coffee machines, including the iconic illy Art Collection, and the charm of our exclusive blend, with illy quality coffee unique flavor. We are proud to be a global coffee partner of Frieze Los Angeles, one of the main international art fairs, with whom we share the passion for inclusion and sharing, two core values of contemporary art”, said illycaffè president Andrea Illy.
Over the years, more than one hundred world renowned artists have worked on this screen: Michelangelo Pistoletto, Marina Abramović, Anish Kapoor, James Rosenquist, William Kentridge, Yoko Ono, Gillo Dorfles, Robert Wilson, Ai Weiwei, among others.

Coffee lovers who drink illy espresso coffee in a cup of coffee designed by an artist combine the aroma and flavor of the company’s blend with a full esthetic, visual and tactile experience, establishing a relationship with contemporary art.
