It is hard to talk about special coffee in Brazil without mentioning Isabela Raposeiras, one of the pioneers in the segment of baristas specialized in coffee and highly respected roast master. Born in Rio de Janeiro, 43 years old, she spares no efforts to spread the special coffee culture. While being, maybe, a drop in the ocean of commodities, her coffee shop gradually teaches those who seek to learn more about this new caffeinated universe.
For over 17 years in this territory, Isabela opened room for people to learn the art of coffee, in a country still used to take “black” coffee at the baker’s shop. She went abroad to further her studies and was already competing in international barism contests while we were still beginners in the field. She came back wishing to teach, and worked at several cafeterias before opening her own coffee shop, at the heart of São Paulo west region, which is, today, a benchmark worldwide.
Coffee lab is a real classroom, or, a fashionable lab, where one can learn the rich culture of special coffees. With informative menus and rituals to drink the beverage, even those who drop by just for a cup of coffee end up by learning something. But if you want to dive into this universe, the shop counts on real classrooms, for those who want to specialize in barism or in coffee roast.
Though being very busy lately, Isabela still reserves part of her time to spread her knowledge, training a dedicated team of baristas to prepare one of the best coffees in town.
