In the opening event, approximately 2,300 cups of special coffee should be served. Besides Recife, Olinda, Porto de Galinhas and Jaboatão dos Guararapes will be part of the party

The third edition of Recife Coffee 2018 will be held from May 2 to July 3, and will have the participation of 35 specialty coffee shops in the cities of Recife, Olinda, Porto de Galinhas and, for the first time, Jaboatão dos Guararapes.

The official opening of the event will take place on the 29th, Sunday, with the expected Café na Rua, at Avenida Ribo Branco, Recife Antigo, from 9am to 4pm. There will be free espressos, filtered and milk coffees, as well as printed material about the event. One of the organizers and owner of the coffee shop Café com Dengo, Natália Valença, said that last year, 2000 cups of coffee were distributed and the expectation for this year is that there is an increase from 10 to 15% in participants.

“It all started with a simple group of friends, coffee shop owners from Recife, in whatsapp, where we exchanged tips about specialty coffees, suppliers etc. Suddenly, someone gave the idea of an event that could bring people interested in special coffees. We gathered together and that’s the result. This year, we will be 35 participating coffee shops and, most likely, we will have a record audience,” says Natália. In the first year, there were 15 coffee shops and, in 2017, 25 of them.

Therefore, the participants of Recife Coffee have the spirit of group unity, the secret of such success. “The small businesses are strengthened, as are the producers, professionals and educational institutions in the segment, in addition to tourism,” points out another coordinator of the event, Roberta Araújo.

To participate in Recife Coffee, establishments must follow certain well-defined quality criteria to guarantee a sensory experience for participants. “It is necessary that the participating coffee shops have baristas in the permanent preparation of the coffees, offering only specialty coffees, personalized service and the owners’ follow-up.

During the event, all the houses will have on their menu the Barista suggestion, made up of coffees prepared with special grains, a salty food and another sweet, specially developed for the event, and harmonized with the coffee suggested by the house. The fixed price will be R$ 24.00 in all participating coffee shops.

Recife Coffee has the support of SEBRAE- PE, Koar, Recife City Hall, Épura Gráfica and Atilla Torradores. To know the list of the 35 participating coffee shops, besides more information, visit www.recifecoffee.com.br. Facebook and Instagram:@recifecoffeeoficial
