Santo Antônio and Trindade granges, both owned by Adilson Carlos Paulletti, are neighbors to Pinotti family.
Adilson family started to work on these lands 70 years ago, approximately, when his grandfather, Italian immigrant who initially worked in Brazil as planter in another farm, bought the land.
His father, Ernesto Paulletti, today 84 years old, along with his mother, Maria Reni Paulletti, 76 years old, still live in the property and, despite the old age, help their son as they can.
Adilson lives in the city of Pardinho and comes every day to work at the farm where his parents still live. The family history is part of São Paulo middle west coffee history.
Adilson opted for special coffees 18 years ago. “I started to plant seven to eight thousand coffee trees a year and I myself planted and formed my coffee plantation. I planted yellow and red Catuaí, Obatã, Tupi, Icatu, Mundo Novo and Catiguá”, he tells with pride.
Sitio Santo Antônio has 15.1 hectares and Trindade, 22. In total there are 22 hectares of coffee in both properties, six of them in Santo Antônio and 16 in Trindade.
In addition to the good altitude, around 950 meters, and ideal climate, around 60% of the coffee harvested in the property is special. It is part of the Fair Trade certification, and in 2011 was in second position in the natural coffee contest.
The harvesting is mechanized, since he only counts on 15 employees. “I start firm harvesting around August and trade it via Fair Trade. The only problem is that I can’t sell less than 50 bags, due to costs and bureaucracy”, he says.
