Yara announces the winners of NossoCafé 2021 Contest

Producers from Minas Gerais and Espírito Santo were elected the best in the Natural Coffee and Peeled Cherry Coffee categories

Yara, the world’s leading plant nutrition company, announces the winners of the 5th edition of  NossoCafé Contest. They are:  Geovane dos Santos Matos, from Alto do Jequitibá (MG), in the Natural Coffee category and Estevão Denizar Douro, from Marechal Floriano (ES), in the Peeled Cherry Coffee category.

Both will have their lot purchased by Yara and will be honored with their name and ownership data stamped on  NossoCafé packages, which will be distributed globally by the company. In addition, the company also offers the winners the Q-Grader course of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association – BSCA.

“It was very gratifying to participate in a competition from Yara, which is a company that we’ve been a partner for a long time. Our property is in  Espírito Santo Mountains region, we have a microclimate and a privileged terroir for the production of specialty coffees, and this allied to good plant nutrition allows us to have productivity in the fields and deliver excellent coffee in the cup”, comments Espíritoão Denizar Douro,  the winner from Espírito Santo.

Held annually, the NossoCafé Contest aims to promote the national production of high quality coffee, reinforcing the importance of balanced nutrition throughout the production cycle of the crop. In all, the 5th edition collected 120 samples of coffee from different regions of Brazil, 82 in the Natural Coffee category and 38 in the Peeled Cherry Coffee category. Winning samples were sorted according to Specialty Coffee Association, SCA protocols.

“In 2021, Brazil will probably produce almost 47 million bags of coffee, according to data from Conab and, despite all the challenges faced this year, we are very proud to assess the quality of our producers and collaborate with each one, offering the nutrients and the necessary solutions for them to continue harvesting productive and quality crops”, comments Kaio Dias, agronomic specialist from Yara.
