Vietnam, principal competidor de Brasil en la producción de café, planea renovar el 25 % de sus plantaciones

El objetivo es aumentar la productividad y aumentar las exportaciones

El gobierno de Vietnam pretende renovar hasta 160.000 hectáreas de sus plantaciones de café, lo que representa sustituir el 25 % de su área total de producción hasta 2020. El objetivo es volver a los cultivos más productivos y aumentar su participación en el mercado global del café.

Con aproximadamente 645.000 hectáreas del área total de cultivos de café,  Vietnam es el segundo más grande productor del mundo, atrás de Brasil, su mayor competidor. Vietnam responde por el 18 % de toda la producción mundial. Brasil mantiene el 33 % del mercado mundial que, en 2016 fue de 152 millones de sacos de 60 kg.
