In an exclusive interview with Grão Especial, David Nagy, the creator of Clr Coffee spoke from London to our editorial staff.
Recently launched in the U.K. by two Slovak brothers, David and Adam Nagy, both without a truly defined profession, CLR Coffee is already an absolute sales hit in Selfridges and Wholefoods in London, priced at £3.49 and £2.99, respectively.
As the acceptance was much better than expected, and the brothers are taking extra efforts to get rid of the bureaucracy at the British port, the result is that it is currently impossible to find the drink for sale. However, if you are in Europe you can order it on the website clrcff.com, for the price of £2.99.
Andy hopes that everything will be normalized in a few weeks, as he expects high sales during the European summer.
“It took me five years from the initial idea of the product to its launch. The factory, coordinated by my younger brother Adam, who is just 25 (David is 28), is in a small village in Slovakia, near where I was born,” he explained. There is no way I am giving the exact location. It is a family secret.
In addition to highly pure water, the product includes, of course, arabica coffee beans, a blend whose only secret he shares involves the fact that CLR Coffee has Brazilian specialty coffee in its recipe. The beans are roasted by a Prague-based roasting company and are used within one week, thus ensuring the quality of the drink. The rest of the formula is top secret, like the Coca-Cola formula, which, by the way, may already be keeping an eye on this innovation.
Andy further explains that CLR Coffee is an all-natural product, with no added sweeteners and sugars.
David worked for some time in a winery and, with this experience, he thinks big: he wants to produce his own coffee. This could be, who knows, in Brazil.
