The Primavera Farm was the champion of the peeled cherry “Pulped Naturals” category, while the Paraíso Farm was the champion of the “Naturals” category”
The Primavera Farm, located in the municipality of Angelândia, in the region of Chapada de Minas Gerais, was the great winner of the “Pulped Naturals” category, with a special coffee microlot that reached a grade of 93.89. As for the Paraíso Farm, in Carmo do Paranaíba, located in the Denomination of Origin at the Minas Gerais Cerrado, it was the champion in the “Naturals” category, with 93.26 points.
The Cup of Excellence – Brazil 2018 also had 67 lots, 30 of which were in the “Pulped Naturals” category and 36 in “Naturals”, which received scores equal to or greater than 86 SCAA points by the international jury of 29 professionals from 10 countries. According to one of the international judges, the Colombian Ramon Alfredo Presiga Tangarife, representative of the company Latorre & Dutch Green Coffee (yes, most of the time the judges are buyers of coffees!), the coffees presented had a great diversity of flavor, with specific notes bergamot, honey, chocolate, blueberry, peach, sugar cane, blackberries and citrus fruits.
Presidential Cafe
In the category related to peeled and/or pulped cherries, five samples received the title of presidential coffee, obtaining a grade higher than 90 points. They are: Fortaleza Site, by Reinaldo Garcia dos Santos, in Luisburgo, Matas de Minas; Santo André Farm, owned by the Dimap company, in Pratinha, in the Denomination of Origin at the Minas Gerais Cerrado; São Francisco grange, by Maria José Junqueira Céglia, in Carmo de Minas, in the Identification of Provenance of Mantiqueira de Minas; and the Santo Antônio Site, in Piatã, in Chapada Diamantina, in Bahia, besides the champion. There were also seven National Winners, with scores between 84 and 85.99 points.
As for the Natural Coffees, eight obtained the title of presidential coffee, with grades higher than 90 points: São Pedro farm, by Robson Vilela Martins, by Cristina; Torre Site, by Álvaro Pereira Coli, in Carmo de Minas; Fortaleza Site, by Augusto Borges Ferreira, in São Gonçalo do Sapucaí; Fortaleza Farm, by Alessandro Alvez Hervaz, also in São Gonçalo do Sapucaí, all located in the Indication of Provenance of Mantiqueira de Minas; São Severino farm, Salvador da Paixão Mesquita, Piatã, Chapada Diamantina, Bahia, as well as Vista Alegre farm, by José Renato Rodrigues Alves; and Campo Alegre farm, by Silvia Dias Cambraia, in Santo Antônio do Amparo, southern Bahia.
