Italian company Illycaffè has just launched a new individually packaged and pressurized espresso coffee capsule, which, according to the company, maintains the attributes of the drink for longer after opening the main package.
Named Iperespresso Single, the product was developed with the Horeca market in mind, including hotels, restaurants, e coffee shops, where long-term freshness is crucial. But it is also intended for household consumption in both large and small amounts, as the opening of the 100-unit box does not interfere with the quality of the subsequent capsules, with each one being good for as long as a year and a half. Soon, the product will be launched in 14-unit packages.
We asked Illy what the environmental impact would be if yet another packaging unit were to be included in the capsules and how the company expected to solve this issue. The company officer, Francisco Canepa, answered: “Illycaffè, will soon announce a major initiative associated with sustainability, the details of which cannot be provided in advance at this time. This highly comprehensive initiative is intended to further improve the company’s efforts in reducing the environmental impact of its operations, in addition to compensating for any effects occasionally caused by its packaging units, such as the individually pressurized ‘Single’ packaging.”
The new product is already available via the brand’s e-commerce and at its physical store, in Jardins, São Paulo.
